Meet Our Team

A Graduate of UC Davis.

Dr. Tanaka practiced Veterinary medicine in the Bay area for 5 years at a multi-doctor practice, while also working at the Oakland Animal Shelter. He then moved to San Diego from the Bay area & traveled weekly to L.A. to complete his surgical residency. Missing San Diego he continued to commute until he finally decided to settle in Encinitas and start a family.

Dr. Kari Bohn grew up in Ramona, CA in a boisterous household full of animals and foreign exchange students.  She was a member of the United States Pony Clubs Assoc. from a young age and her love of horses and riding followed her into adulthood.  She spent her Junior year of high school living abroad in Madrid, Spain where she became fluent in Spanish.  She graduated Cum Laude from UC San Diego with a B.S in Ecology, Animal Behavior and Evolution.  

Dr. Bohn graduated with honors from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006.  While at Davis she completed an internship in veterinary pathology at the San Diego Zoo, was awarded the Cordy Prize in Veterinary Pathology and spent a summer in Argentina researching Leptospirosis in cattle as a recipient of the Geraldine R Dodge Foundation “Frontiers in Veterinary Medicine” grant.

After graduation Dr. Bohn worked in a large, AAHA accredited 24-hour mixed animal practice in the Sierra Foothills.  In 2009 she transitioned to primarily small animal practice.  Since then she has practiced in Northern and Southern California as well as Baltimore, MD.  Her areas of special interest include abdominal ultrasound, internal medicine and geriatrics.  Dr. Bohn lives in Vista with her husband Ben, their 3-year-old daughter Ferris and their two cats “L.B.' (Lover Boy) and “Kitty Kitty Meow Meows”.  Outside of work she enjoys cycling, hiking, the beach and international travel.

Dr. Poleshuk was the long time owner of the well respected Keahou Veterinary Clinic in Kona, Hawaii, and has been a consistent relief Vet for Dr. Tanaka. He has practiced emergency medicine and surgery, and was also an Anatomy Professor. He and his wife, Lori, live in beautiful Del Mar where they occasionally see their son and daughter who attend college in Los Angeles. 

Meet Jennifer P!

Originally from Indiana, she decided to move to SoCal a few years ago. She has been working in the Veterinary field for over 15 years! Prior to working in animal health, Jennifer was in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed on Camp Pendleton. Her favorite part of the vet field is seeing all the dogs--especially Dobermans! Jennifer still likes to be physically active, so you may see her running down the road.

Boris has worked at Santa Fe Animal Clinic since he was 16 years old. He is wonderful with the animals, and is our go to guy when something needs fixing! He is currently attending college working on his general education, hoping to have a career in computers. He loves to go hiking and camping. He is also an awesome big brother to his two younger sisters and 3 dogs.

Ryan is originally from Las Vegas, but moved to Southern California about 15 years ago. He has been in the Veterinary field over 15 years now. He loves both spicy and salty foods. He has 2 cats and 2 dogs that he loves dearly. He's been married to his wife for over 9 years, and they have a son. He loves to take walks on the beach with his whole family, while chatting about SoCal life.

Meet Jenna!

She is a SoCal native and US Navy Veteran with a profound love and respect for all animals. She joined the veterinary field about 2 years ago. Outside of work, she volunteers at the Pacific Marine Mammal Center. She also enjoys many outdoor activities such as hiking and paddle boarding. She is an avid runner, so you may see her running around Encinitas, or on the trails with one of her 3 dogs. 

Meet Stephanie!

She is a life-long resident of California, having grown up in San Diego county. Stephanie has always had an affinity for animals, and has been in the vet field for over 5 years. She loves the vet field because every day is different. She especially loves learning about emergency services and treatments for animals. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her 2 children and her 2 cats. 

Elizabeth(Liz) has been in the veterinary field for about 5 years. Liz has a B.S. in Biology and is currently pursing her career in becoming a veterinarian. She got accepted to UC Davis Vet school. Liz has been living in SoCal for about 24 years. She enjoys spending time with her husband, two kids, and 1 dog.

Originally from Virginia, Annabel has made Southern California her home. Although newer to the veterinary field, she has been in the pet industry for over 3 years and grew up with many furry friends around. In her free time, you can find her enjoying the beautiful hiking trails around the area or going out with her friends for country concerts and line dancing. 

Ana is from a small horse town near LA. She has been in the field for about 2 years. She enjoys horseback riding, concerts, road trips, breweries and coffee shops. She's a pet parent to 2 guinea pigs, 2 dogs, 1 hamster. and 1 fish. Ana is currently attending college to become a large animal veterinarian.
